happy new year to you too lucky! i've got loads and loads of jaipongan to post, only problem is the weather, raining like hell an when it rains the connection here is terrible, this post took all day, 3 failed attempts, uploading stopping after two or three hours, but i keep trying:)

seems like not much had changed since 2000 - i was getting mad so often after miserable tries to send e-mails from indonesia, i went so far and wrote handwritten letters, which at least arrived after a month. ;)

i wish i could upload those things for you - but hamburg is far away from java...

selamat

thanks, I am a big fan of jaipong & I. Hadijah. Your efforts are very much appreciated! Be grateful it's just rain & heat …

well, mahendra singh sure made a point - here in germany hurricanelike storms are speeding over the country, it's raining all day - and that all at 3 degrees celsius... brrrr!!! the temperature near the equator would be heaven right now, 30°C, aaah...

agree about the drawings to carroll's hunting of the snark - i only knew henry holidays original illustrations, which are even more weird than john tenniel's for the alice books. in some i seem to spot cld himself, right?!? ;)

thank you for your kind Snark praise, Henk. When I am inking, I often listen to baroque classical or gamelan/jaipong etc … it focusses the mind!

Yes, there is CLD in the drawings, the rascal!

I am hoping to do a GN of Shakuntala one day and the soundtrack (for me at least) will be mostly gamelan, etc
